About Community Shield
An independent philanthropic organization dedicated to academic excellence, leadership development, and the future infrastructure of Ghana.
Our Genesis & Philosophy
The Community Shield Scholarship was born out of a stark realization: Ghana's potential is limitless, but opportunities for world-class higher education are often restricted by financial constraints. Established as a private trust, our foundation operates with a singular focus—to locate the brightest minds across the nation and equip them with global expertise.
Though we maintain a strategic alignment with the visionary goals of the Ministry of Works and Housing, we are fiercely independent in our funding and governance. This allows us to operate with corporate agility, ensuring that every cedi committed to this scholarship translates directly into student success.
HENRY HAGAN BROWN & GOG
As a leading figure in Ghana’s corporate and developmental sectors, Henry Hagan Brown and The ministry of Water, Work & Housing established the Community Shield Scholarship to give back to the nation that shaped his success.
Recognizing the critical need for advanced skills in engineering, infrastructure, business, and technology, he committed his private resources to ensure that highly talented but financially disadvantaged students are not left behind. His leadership at the Ministry of Works and Housing provides him with a unique vantage point on what the nation needs, but it is his private philanthropy that fuels this foundation.
Under his guidance, the foundation operates on strict principles of meritocracy, transparency, and national duty.
Corporate Governance & Integrity
As an independent NGO entrusted with high-stakes academic placements, we operate under a strict corporate governance framework to ensure absolute fairness.
